  • The sale of Thingamaboob keychains has helped to raise awareness on the importance of breast cancer screening among women in Quebec every year for the past five years.
  • To date, mammograms are the most reliable way to detect cancer in its early stages.  
  • When breast cancer is diagnosed and treated at the very beginning, more treatment options are available, the disease is less aggressive and greater are the chances of recovery.   

 

WHAT:

Launch of the Canadian Cancer Society's Thingamaboob awareness campaign, an initative that promotes regular mammograms and encourages women to take part in the Quebec Breast Cancer Screening Program (PQDCS)



WHEN:

Saturday, November 28th, 2015
From 10:30 to 11:30 am
Breast cancer survivors, doctors and Thingamaboob Ambassadors will be available for interviews. A public launch will take place at noon.

  • Lise Dion, Canadian Cancer Society's Thingamaboob campaign spokesperson

  • Dr Johanne Blais and Dr Christiane Laberge, GPs specialized in women's health

  • A woman enrolled in the PQDCS who was diagnosed with breast cancer during a screening mammogram

  • An Ambassador of the Thingamaboob Campaign in charge of reaching women in specific culturalcommunities that have a low enrolment rate in the PQDCS

  • Dominique Claveau, Program Manager, Cancer Prevention, Canadian Cancer Society – Quebec Division
