/R E P E A T -- Lifesaving Society introduces new tool to help parents and caregivers save lives this summer/

Proper supervision is key: 58% of Ontario drowning victims under age five were alone near water; 56% drowned while supervision was distracted1

TORONTO, June 24, 2014 /CNW/ - School holidays are about to start, the long weekend is upon us, and the Lifesaving Society wants parents to ask the question "who's on guard?" when kids are in and around water this summer. Drowning is the second leading cause of preventable death for children under 10, and children under five are particularly at risk. The Lifesaving Society has developed a new tool to remove any doubt about who is responsible for supervising the children and to provide tips to help them supervise effectively; with a goal of reducing accidents or death by drowning.
