TORONTO, April 28, 2016 /CNW/ - The International Centre in Mississauga is set to host Canada's Vape Expo, the largest vape convention ever in Canada, featuring the industry's leading companies, brands and vape tech ambassadors. The convention will take place between May 13th -15th and is expected to be attended by thousands of people from across North America, including a large contingent of ex-smokers who credit vape technology for helping them quit smoking cigarettes.
The event is also timely given the recent decisions by the Kathleen Wynne government to crack down on vape retail stores and customers. The industry has hit back in recent months, organizing a movement to try and force the government to rethink legislation that bans vape users from public places including designated vape shops. The legislation equates vaporizers with tobacco products, a controversial claim among the vaping community and opposition members of the government.
"This is our industry's opportunity to demonstrate to governments that Canadians are demanding obstacle-free, healthier choices, especially Canadians who are finally ready to abandon tobacco products," said Charlie Pisano, of VapeMeet. He continues, "There's never been a mass movement of harm reduction advocates seen at this scale in our country's history."
To encourage more smokers to stop smoking by using vape products instead, CVE is offering current smokers a vaping starter kit in exchange for abandoning a pack of cigarettes. The convention also boasts a number of guest speakers, including harm reduction advocacy specialists and other industry leaders looking to counter misinformation spread by the Wynne government.
The CVE is a joint project between DashVapes.com and VapeMeet.ca (producers of VapeCan 2015) and is Canada's leading vaping trade show. Each year, the CVE travels across Canada to bring out the best in industry-leading exhibitors from Canada and abroad.
