Public Elementary Teachers Welcome New Education Minister

TORONTO, Jan. 19 /CNW/ - Sam Hammond, President of the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario (ETFO) today welcomed Leona Dombrowsky, the new Minister of Education, on behalf of Ontario's 73,000 elementary public school teachers and education workers.

"We wish Minister Dombrowsky well in her new portfolio, which is one of the most challenging in the cabinet," said Hammond. "We are confident that the experience and knowledge of education issues she has gained as a former trustee and chairperson of the Algonquin Lakeshore Catholic School Board will serve her well in her new position."

"The achievement of quality education is a major concern for Ontario's elementary public school teachers. We look forward to developing a positive and productive working relationship with Minister Dombrowsky to realize this objective on behalf of teachers, parents, and their children," Hammond said.

"We wish former Education Minister Kathleen Wynne well as she moves forward in her new role as Minister of Transportation," said Hammond.

The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario represents 73,000 elementary public school teachers and education workers across the province and is the largest teacher federation in Canada.
