President of global Mazars Group in Montreal - Mazars Harel Drouin to develop
Canadian market from its base in Quebec
MONTREAL, May 4 /CNW Telbec/ - Following the merger of the global Mazars Group and the Montreal firm Harel Drouin in September 2009, Mazars Harel Drouin is preparing to roll out its cross-Canada development strategy with the opening of audit and consulting offices in Ontario and Atlantic Canada over the next five years. Mazars Harel Drouin is emerging as a major player in the accounting profession and will develop its Canadian market from its base in Montreal.
Patrick de Cambourg, president of Mazars Group, is in Montreal to mark the integration of Mazars Harel Drouin into the international Mazars Group partnership. He stresses the strategic importance of this integration for its Canada-wide development: "Around the world, the landscape of the accounting profession is changing. In Canada, Mazars Harel Drouin is distinctly different in the world of audit, accounting, taxation and advisory services. From its base in Montreal, Mazars Harel Drouin will spearhead the development of Mazars in Canada over the next few years."
At the event being presented tonight by Mazars Harel Drouin for the Montreal business community, Pierre Arcand, Minister of International Relations and Minister responsible for the Francophonie, intends to reaffirm the importance of the Quebec-France Understanding on the Mutual Recognition of Professional Qualifications in accounting: "This Understanding allows accountants in Quebec and France to obtain the right to work in each other's territory. It facilitates and speeds up recruitment of qualified people and enhances companies' productivity."
Alan DeSousa, vice-chair of the Executive Committee, responsible for finance at the Ville de Montréal, and Fellow Chartered Accountant, applauds the fact that the global Mazars Group chose Montreal as its springboard for developing the Canadian market: "Montreal is a major economic centre in North America, and I'm convinced the Mazars Group will be able to achieve its full potential thanks to our qualified labour force."
Michel Brousseau, Mazars Harel Drouin's managing partner in Montreal, adds: "We're proud of our integration into Mazars Group. This world-class partnership will allow us to accompany our clients around the world. Regardless of where they do business, they are at home at Mazars. Mazars Harel Drouin is in growth mode, and we expect to increase our professional staff by 7 to 10 per cent over the next four years. We have optimized our service offering in audit, taxation and corporate services, in addition to reinforcing our key role with companies that are in the process of converting to IFRS standards."
First and foremost among the value-added services Mazars Harel Drouin offers its clients is its extensive expertise in transparency and accountability on a national and global scale, based on IFRS standards. For example, Mazars recently published the fifth edition of its annual report, including its own co-audited consolidated accounts, in compliance with IFRS standards. To date, Mazars is probably the only global audit and advisory group to undergo this demanding transparency exercise and publish its accounts under the same conditions as its publicly traded clients.
The creation of Mazars Harel Drouin is the natural outcome of a collaboration of more than 10 years, between Jacques Davis Lefaivre and Mazars Group, and a closer relationship between Mazars Jacques Davis Lefaivre and Harel Drouin. With the globalization of markets and the growing complexity of accounting standards, Mazars Harel Drouin provides proven, customized solutions to both large corporations and SMEs in Canada and around the world.
