Teams from across the country involved, including team from Nunavut
TORONTO, April 22 /CNW/ - Today, Popsicle announced its sponsorship of over 1,200 soccer teams across Canada. With soccer season about to kick off, more than 18,000 under-10 soccer players will benefit from Popsicle brand's support.
"Popsicle is summer's favourite treat, and soccer is one of the season's most popular sports," says Shoshana Price, Brand Building Manager for Popsicle. "We wanted to bring summer fun to kids across the country, and what better way to do this than by teaming up with grassroots soccer clubs from coast to coast?"
Children from every Canadian province will benefit from this sponsorship, giving them the opportunity to play this fun summertime sport and learn important life skills like sportsmanship, dedication and working with a team.
"It's exciting to have such a well-loved brand like Popsicle sponsor us - without their help, it would have been a challenge to compete this season," says Geoff Clark, soccer coach of the Kugluktuk Grizzlies in Nunavut. "And, our team will now be enjoying the perfect snacks for after a summer soccer game - ice cold Popsicle treats."
Popsicle will be the title sponsor of this year's Soccer Day in Canada on CBC - a nationally broadcasted special. A number of exciting events will be part of the day, including: soccer team features from across Canada, a Major League Soccer game between Toronto FC and Colorado, and a FIFA World Cup(TM) report and match, live from South Africa. Soccer Day in Canada is taking place July 10th starting at 12 p.m. ET.
