WINNIPEG, Oct. 15, 2015 /CNW/ - Pollard Banknote Limited (TSX: PBL) ("Pollard Banknote") is pleased to announce that Doug Pollard, Co-Chief Executive Officer, has been inducted into the Public Gaming Research Institute ("PGRI") Lottery Industry Hall of Fame. A ceremony to induct this year's new members was held during the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries ("NASPL") 2015 annual conference and trade show in Dallas, Texas on Thursday, October 15, 2015.
This is the third time in four years that a member of Pollard Banknote's team has been inducted into the Lottery Industry Hall of Fame. Past honorees include: Margaret R. DeFrancisco, Senior Vice President, Corporate Development (2013); and Jennifer Westbury, Executive Vice President, Sales & Customer Development (2012).
Since 1997, Doug has worked closely with his brothers, John Pollard, Co-Chief Executive Officer, and Gordon Pollard, Executive Chair of the company's Board. The three brothers have built on the success of their father, Lawrence Pollard, steering the company from its beginnings in the Canadian Lottery business in the 1980s to become the thriving, global leader it is today.
After 14 years of successfully leading the company through a variety of new business ventures, Doug was appointed Co-Chief Executive Officer in 2011. During his tenure with Pollard Banknote the company has quadrupled in size to have sales currently in excess of $200 million annually. Doug encourages Pollard Banknote teams to engage with clients at all levels of their business, from the "Bricks & Mortar" retail development to the adaptation of emerging technologies and social media. While looking toward the future of the industry, Doug continues to live up to his motto—"never fall out of love with your core business"—by keeping a focus on the company's position at the forefront of the instant ticket market but with an eye on continuing growth as the company transitions into an exciting new era of omni-channel offerings.
Doug, a graduate of the University of Western Ontario with a master's degree in Business Administration, also plays an active role in setting the agenda for the Pollard Family Foundation, which has donated millions of dollars to support good causes throughout the community.
The Lottery Industry Hall of Fame was established by PGRI in 2005 to recognize exceptional professionals who have made a significant contribution to the lottery industry's success worldwide. Every year, former inductees nominate and vote on the new inductees.
