TORONTO, Nov. 1, 2016 /CNW/ - TVO is pleased to announce that the Ontario Government has reappointed Peter O'Brian to serve as Chair of the TVO Board of Directors for a two-year term (November 1, 2016 – October 31, 2018). O'Brian has served as Chair since 2005.
O'Brian is an independent film producer whose movies have won 19 Genie Awards, including the celebrated films, The Grey Fox and My American Cousin. Over three decades, his successful collaborations with talented directors and original Canadian projects have made him a leader in Canadian cinema. In 2015, he produced Survivors Rowe, a film that documents the harrowing and tragic stories of three Indigenous men who were abused by Anglican minister Ralph Rowe.
He is a founding board member and former Executive Director of the Canadian Film Centre. In 2012, he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and in 2013 he was honoured with the Directors Guild of Canada's Honourary Life Member Award.
