Parliamentary Secretary Colin Carrie promotes environmental stewardship at GLOBE 2014, a major environment exposition

GLOBE is a key forum on business and the environment

VANCOUVER, March 26, 2014 /CNW/ - Parliamentary Secretary Colin Carrie attended GLOBE 2014, North America's largest international environmental business summit today, on behalf of the Honourable Leona Aglukkaq, Minister of the Environment, Minister of the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency and Minister for the Arctic Council.

Dr. Carrie toured the GLOBE Exhibition, GLOBE 2014's tradeshow, including stops at the Environment Canada and Sustainable Development Technology Canada exhibits. He also met with international delegates and gave introductory remarks at a session focused on encouraging stronger business participation in the Climate and Clean Air Coalition to Reduce Short-Lived Climate Pollutants (CCAC).

During his speech, Dr. Carrie, noted that reducing these emissions is an integral part of Canada's broader climate change and clean air agenda.

  • GLOBE 2014 hosts upwards of 400 international government and business exhibitors focused on the key themes of Energy, Green Building and Sustainable Cities and Water.

  • Canada is co-founder and lead partner of the CCAC, and is leading on initiatives to address short-lived climate pollutants from agriculture, heavy-duty diesel vehicles and engines, and municipal solid waste. GLOBE has recently joined the CCAC as a partner.
