Orca Exploration Announces the Nomination of Beer van Straten to its Board of

TORTOLA, British Virgin Islands, June 8 /CNW/ - Orca Exploration Group Inc. ("Orca" or the "Company") announces that Beer van Straten has agreed to stand as a nominee for election to the Company's Board of Directors at its annual and special meeting of shareholders to be held on June 23, 2010.
Beer van Straten is a senior international oil and gas industry executive with high level exploration, production and commercial experience in the North Sea, Middle East and Africa. "We are excited about the extensive drilling and field knowledge that Beer will bring to our Board," said David Lyons Orca's Chairman and CEO. "Orca is currently expanding its geographic areas of interest. On June 1, 2010 Orca announced the Elsa farm-in located offshore Italy and we are currently evaluating additional oil exploration opportunities in Africa, Europe and the Middle East. Beer's first hand drilling and operations knowledge will be an excellent fit with our growth objectives."
Beer van Straten joined Shell in 1988 and advanced to become the Deputy Head of Development Drilling in Oman by 1998. In 1999 Beer moved to become Wintershall's Drilling and Production Manager for Libya managing two plants with a production capacity of 150,000 bopd and an associated gas plant. In 2002 he was recruited back to Shell and led an integrated project team that saw Shell return to Libya. In 2006 he moved with Shell to Egypt and was responsible for operations that included two gas plants, a separation plant, a pipeline network to Alexandria and five drilling rigs.
In 2008 Beer joined Dana Gas as General Manger for Egypt where he managed an aggressive five-rig drilling program that doubled Dana Gas reserves in 18 months, raised production 50% through optimization and accelerated tie-ins and managed over 800 staff and 400 contractors. A Dutch citizen, van Straten studied at Delft University of Technology where he graduated with an MSc. in Mechanical Engineering.
