McGuinty Government Joins Forces with Global Giant
TORONTO, Sept. 29 /CNW/ - Ontario signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with GE Canada today that could lead to substantial long-term investments and a strengthening of GEs footprint within the province.
According to the MOU's terms, GE Canada will:
- Help small and medium-sized companies further develop and
commercialize their innovative products and services;
- Provide GE management and leadership training to 200 Ontario
government middle and senior level managers in the next five years;
- Establish global centres of excellence within Ontario focusing on
clean energy, water treatment, health care, information technology
and state-of-the-art manufacturing sectors.
"The Ontario government values the important role GE continues to plays in our economy, "said Sandra Pupatello, Minister of Economic Development and Trade. "With the signing of today's MOU, GE and Ontario have provided the basis for a cooperation-focused framework that will enhance economic development, create new jobs and promote research and development within the province."
