OLG slots at Rideau Carleton Raceway celebrates tenth anniversary

SAULT STE. MARIE, ON, Feb. 24 /CNW/ - A decade of great gaming, strong community partnership and local economic benefits was celebrated today as Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) Senior Vice President Gaming, Larry Flynn, Ottawa Chamber of Commerce representative Erin Kelly and Chantal Guindon of Rideau Carleton Raceway marked the tenth anniversary of OLG Slots at Rideau Carleton Raceway with a cake-cutting ceremony.

"Since the opening of Slots at Rideau Carleton Raceway ten years ago, OLG has enjoyed a strong community partnership with the City of Ottawa and its residents," said Senior Vice President Gaming Larry Flynn. "We're proud that through this partnership, the City of Ottawa has been able to support important local programs and initiatives, and we look forward to many more successful years serving this community."

The slot facility has created approximately 274 direct jobs with annual wages and benefits of $13.7 million, which is reinvested into the community through the purchase of personal goods and services by employees.

As the host community for OLG Slots at Rideau Carleton Raceway, the City of Ottawa has received more than $34.1 million in non-tax gaming revenue since the facility opened. OLG has also been a proud community sponsor of TD Canada Trust Ottawa International Jazz Festival, Ottawa SuperEX, and Igniting the Spirit.

OLG Slots at Rideau Carleton Raceway is operated and managed by OLG. The facility offers approximately 1250 slot machines and has attracted more than 15.9 million visitors since opening.

OLG is a provincial agency responsible for province-wide lottery games and gaming facilities. Since 1975, OLG lotteries, Casinos, Slots, and Resort Casinos have generated more than $28 billion for the benefit of the Province of Ontario. Gaming proceeds support Ontario's hospitals, amateur sport, recreational and cultural activities, communities, provincial priority programs such as health care and education, and local and provincial charities and non-profit organizations through the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
