WINDSOR, ON, Dec. 4 /CNW/ - Breakaway Gaming Centre, along with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG), is celebrating the Grand Opening of Windsor's first electronic bingo facility on Saturday, December 5, 2009, with an exciting evening of entertainment and fun.
Doors open at 5 p.m., and guests will enjoy great food and the musical talents of Sounds of Motown and Crystal Gage. In addition, the site will be offering more than $4,000 in prizing, as well as a commemorative gift to remember the evening. Breakaway Gaming Centre officially opened its doors to the public on November 30, 2009, adding electronic bingo through computer terminals to traditional bingo card playing at a newly upgraded facility. The Windsor site is part of Ontario Lottery and Gaming's Bingo Revitalization Program, which is aimed at supporting the charity bingo industry across Ontario.
The Bingo Revitalization Project was announced in January 2005 as part of the provincial government's gaming strategy that focuses on the development of a sustainable and responsible gaming industry. The Windsor pilot is one of five taking place at various locations across Ontario with sites opened previously in Sudbury, Barrie, Kingston, and Peterborough.
OLG is the provincial agency responsible for province-wide lottery games and gaming facilities. Since 1975, OLG lotteries, casinos, slots, and resort casinos have generated more than $28 billion for the benefit of the Province of Ontario. Gaming proceeds support Ontario's hospitals, amateur sport, recreational and cultural activities, communities, provincial priority programs such as health care and education, and local and provincial charities and non-profit organizations through the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
