OffCentre Music Salon presents "Klezmer... on the roof!" - Sunday, April 11,
2010 at the CBC's Glenn Gould Studio

TORONTO, April 7 /CNW/ - What is Jewish music? While Wagner addressed this question in his infamously anti-semitic essay "Jewishness in Music," Off Centre offers a more empirical solution. The upcoming spring concert will compare and contrast the Jewish music of non-Jewish composers and the non-Jewish music of Jewish composers. To make matters more complicated, the event will feature some of the best Canadian talent on stage.

Directed by pianists Inna Perkis and Boris Zarankin, the performance will feature La Scala's star mezzo-soprano Annamaria Popescu, soprano Joni Henson, who recently performed in several Canadian Opera Company productions. Accordionist Joseph Macerollo, Canada's Pioneer of the Classical Accordion and the David Buchbinder Ensemble will throw in a little Klezmer spice!

The concert will be at the CBC's Glenn Gould Studio, 250 Front Street West, on Sunday, April 11, 2010 starting at 2pm.
