Now available from TELUS, the Nokia Lumia 610 is the fastest and most stylish way for students to connect with people, things and places

TORONTO, July 13, 2012 /CNW/ - Today, Nokia announced that the award-winning smartphone, the Nokia Lumia 610, is now available from TELUS.

Nokia's most affordable Lumia smartphone, the Nokia Lumia 610 is the perfect introduction to Windows Phone for a younger audience.  Featuring instant access to social networks with the touch of a button, PeopleHub connects users to email, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn all in one place. Other features include WiFi tethering, flip-to-silence, Xbox Live for gamers and web browsing using Internet Explorer.

"We are pleased to offer the Nokia Lumia 610 to a new generation of smartphone users," said Richard White, General Manager of Nokia Canada.  "The Nokia services and quality apps that accompany the Nokia Lumia 610's fast and friendly interface makes this phone an excellent choice for the novice or advanced smartphone user."

The Nokia Lumia 610 provides instant access to thousands of apps in the Windows Phone Marketplace including Nokia Maps and Nokia Drive.  Students can also access music through Microsoft's Zune Music + Videos service. With a distinctive profile and finely beveled metallic edges, the Nokia Lumia 610 is built to convey both quality and aspiration.

"Our customers have told us they value affordability and style in a mobile device and the Nokia Lumia 610 hits the mark on both," said Brent Johnston, TELUS vice-president of mobility solutions. "With this device, our commitment to excellent customer experiences goes one step further, helping our customers stay on budget and giving them the choice to activate on any rate plan, making the Nokia Lumia 610 a great option for first time smartphone users. To top it off, customers can maximize their experience through TELUS' Clear and Simple initiatives such as flexible rate plans, data notifications and our TELUS Learning Centres that offer customers the opportunity to meet on-on-one with an in-store product expert and learn how to get the most out of their phone."

Students will also appreciate the built-in Microsoft Office app.  From Word and PowerPoint mobile to Excel and OneNote mobile, students can now manage documents, capture notes and make picture and voice memos all with the press of a button. With SkyDrive, files and notes can be synchronized, and opened and edited from the PC or the phone.

The Nokia Lumia 610 will be available in black from TELUS on July 13, 2012 for $0 on a three year term on any rate plan.  To learn more about the Nokia Lumia 610, please visit www.nokia.ca/lumia610.
