TORONTO, March 15 /CNW/ - The Chief Representative of the Quebec Government Office in Toronto is pleased to announce the addition of a new agri-food attaché, David Dupuy. The announcement is in line with the Market prospection and development strategy launched last spring by the Government of Quebec (Stratégie de prospection et de développement des marchés hors Québec).
"The decision made by the minister Claude Béchard, to add an agri-food specialist in Toronto, is strategic. Ontario is the main market for Quebec agriculture and agri-food products, and Toronto is the hub for the distribution of these products in Canada," pointed out Chief Representative Paul-Arthur Huot.
More than 30% of food produced in Quebec is sold in other Canadian provinces, for a total value of nearly six billion dollars. In addition, dozens of Quebec agri-food businesses participate in specialized fairs in Toronto every year. "We will be able to support Quebec businesses and accelerate the development of their markets," Mr. Huot went on to say.
With more than 15 years of experience in business operation, Mr. Dupuy has a wealth of knowledge on marketing and food distribution. He worked as a business development manager for the US ice cream brand Ben and Jerry's at Unilever in France, where he implemented networks of specialty shops and managed major client accounts such as the Euro-Disney account. He also worked for Haagen-Dazs Europe for a few years.
Quebec businesses wanting to break into the broader Canadian market will now have the support of expert business relations with major food buyers as well as personalized consulting services.
David Dupuy can be reached by phone at 416 977 6060 ext 222 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
The mandate of the Quebec Government Office in Toronto is to promote and safeguard Québec's interests in Ontario, Manitoba, and Western provinces as well as the three territories. The Bureau is involved in many sectors of activities including intergovernmental relations, trade promotion, culture and the Francophonie.
