National Consulting Firm Acquires T4G, Canadian Data Company With Strong Atlantic Footprint
MNP's Strategic Acquisition of Full Service Applied Data Company Strengthens its Investments in Atlantic Canada And Helps Clients Drive Competitive Advantage, Growth and Market Share
CALGARY, May 25, 2020 /CNW/ - MNP, one of Canada's largest national accounting, tax and business consulting firms, has announced the acquisition of national, applied data services company, T4G, effective May 15, 2020. The move enhances MNP's ability to help its clients succeed through digital transformation and by unlocking the value stored in their enterprise data.
Founded in 1996 by David Posluns and Geoff Flood (who will both join MNP as part of the acquisition), T4G helps businesses to collect, organize, and use their data to drive growth, gain competitive advantage and increase market share. Their solutions focus on four key areas: Business Intelligence and Analytics (using data to create insights-driven management information); Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (transforming organizations' raw data into predictions and actionable insights); Modern Data Engineering (creating data platforms that ingest, cleanse and organize organizations' data); and developing intelligent applications and AI tools that businesses can use to automate tasks, empower employees, and engage with their customers.
"In this dynamic environment the needs of Canadian organizations are quickly evolving, so we are constantly working with our clients to better understand how we can best support them," said Tanya Knight, Executive Vice President for MNP's Clients and Services. "Business goals remain broadly the same from one decade to the next – companies are always looking for ways to operate more efficiently, engage effectively with customers, and to continue to grow – but the tools available to support their journey are changing rapidly. The strategic acquisition of T4G reflects our commitment to always look for new ways – and at how new technologies can help – to help our clients reach their full potential."
Founded in 1958, MNP has grown to more than 85 locations and 5,500 team members coast to coast, delivering diverse services in accounting, consulting and tax, as well as specialized expertise in every sector and area of business. Not only is MNP the largest of the mid-market focused firms in Canada, it has continued to maintain its Canadian roots, helping Canadian businesses at home and abroad to succeed. The firm has invested heavily in the Atlantic Canada marketplace, starting with its merger with Dartmouth-based firm WBLI, at the start of 2017, and through four further mergers with firms in Sydney, NS, and St. John's, NL, this year.
"The Atlantic Canada marketplace is a growing and diverse economy that has seen increasing investment in recent years," adds Jeremy Cole, MNP's Executive Vice President for Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada. "We're delighted to be a part of the communities in Dartmouth, Truro, Sydney and St. John's, and are looking forward to further expanding our footprint into the Halifax and Saint John areas. Atlantic Canada is already recognized across Canada as a technology hub and we believe that our acquisition of the T4G business will help us find more opportunities to work with the rich sources of talent that exist in this field, right across the region. That, in turn, underpins our ability to continue to develop new and innovative ways of helping our clients achieve their objectives."
MNP's Technology Solutions practice is one of the fastest-growing parts of its business, helping clients in areas such as Digital Services, Cyber Security, Managed IT Services, and Technology Advisory Services. T4G will join MNP's Technology Solutions team and bring additional skills in analytics, intelligent applications, cloud transformation, data engineering, experience design, internet of things, as well as leadership at the forefront of artificial intelligence and machine learning.
"We've continued to expand our Technology Solutions practice at MNP in recent years, focusing on bolstering our resources with diverse skills and experiences to increase the range of problems we are able to help our clients solve," added Sean Devin, National Leader of MNP's Technology Solutions business. "The acquisition of T4G is a strategic move that brings further expertise to our teams right across the country, as well as cutting-edge technologies and approaches that we believe will help us to bring even greater value to our clients; both now and in the future."
With offices in Vancouver, Toronto, Saint John and Halifax, T4G is already working with some of North America's most recognizable brands to help them realize the true value of their data. Three of T4G's leaders (Jon Barry, Salima Moosa and Jason Lee) will become partners at MNP and more than 100 team members will join the firm.
"Like MNP, T4G has teams right across Canada and so the integration into our geographies will be seamless," added Sean Murphy, MNP's Digital Solutions Leader. "Furthermore, T4G supports companies across industries that we already serve intimately, including retail, energy and utilities, financial services, manufacturing, and the public sector. We see this as an acquisition that will bring immediate and long-term value to MNP's clients and can't wait to start working with the T4G team."
T4G's credentials as a market-leading Canadian technology company have been recognized in recent years with several third-party awards, highlighting its team environment, innovation and client service.
"One of the things that really attracted us to T4G is their commitment to excellence," added Devin. "T4G was named as a 2019 Best Workplace in Technology in Canada by The Great Place to Work Institute, Canada, and has won multiple Microsoft IMPACT awards for its work in Data and AI Innovation, and Commercial Industry Innovation. Likewise, MNP has been named as a Kincentric Best Employer every year since 2009, so it was clear to us that our culture and values are well-aligned and that we were bringing in a firm that shares the same quality-first approach to doing business. We are delighted to have found that and more in the T4G team and are excited to welcome them into the MNP family."
The T4G team will maintain their cross-Canada presence, with some team members moving into MNP offices and others remaining at their current locations.
"MNP has a thriving Technology Solutions practice and so we are thrilled to be joining a firm that is committed to identifying and using all of the tools available to help its clients achieve their goals," said Posluns. "Joining MNP will give our own clients access to a wider network of experts across every facet of Canadian business and provides new opportunities for our people to learn and develop their careers by working with MNP's diverse teams and client base."
"Over the last few years, MNP has made significant investments in new technologies and we're proud that they recognize the value T4G's team will bring to their clients," added Flood. "The MNP and T4G teams will bring complementary skills to each others' tables that will fully round out the range of solutions we're able to offer our clients and the marketplace. We couldn't be happier about joining the MNP family."
