Company holds MTS Stories From Home $20,000 Pitch! Contest for Manitoba

GIMLI, MB, July 24, 2013 /CNW/ - MTS, Manitoba's leading full-service communications provider, is proud
to support Manitoba's film industry through its sponsorship of the
Gimli Film Festival. For the first time at the Gimli Film Festival,
MTS, together with On Screen Manitoba, will be holding a pitch contest
for filmmakers to compete for the chance to win $20,000 to put towards
the creation of their film. Ten finalists, comprised of aspiring and
established filmmakers, will pitch their projects to a panel of
industry professionals before a live audience for the chance to be
awarded a $20,000 license fee to produce their film for MTS TV's Stories From Home.
Stories From Home is an MTS Video on Demand collection of new, original and local
programming. Funding for the pitch contest is provided by the MTS Local
Expressions Fund, which is dedicated to help create community
programming in Manitoba. The contest will take place at the Aspire
Theatre at the Gimli Film Festival on Friday, July 26.
In addition to the pitch, MTS hosted the 2nd annual MTS Digital Media Camp, a five-day, hands-on, film immersion
program for youth dedicated to learning how to create a short film. The
camp's final production, Good Intentions, will premiere at the festival on Sunday, July 28. For a

"The MTS Digital Media Camp offers an extraordinary opportunity to the
participants," said Gimli Film Festival Director Cheryl Ashton. "The
camp provides 10 young people the chance to work with some of
Manitoba's notable filmmakers, including Cinematographer Kim Bell from
MTS TV and Director and Mentor Danishka Esterhazy."
The Gimli Film Festival runs from July 24 to 28 in Gimli, Manitoba.
Since 2010, MTS has sponsored the festival through monetary and in-kind
support and MTS is pleased to announce that four films produced for MTS
TV's Stories From Home will be featured at this year's festival. The films include: Packing Up The Wagon, Chasing A Song, Urbee and May We Grow.
