WINNIPEG, Nov. 5, 2012 /CNW/ - MTS is pleased to celebrate the launch of the MTS FiON® Network in Neepawa, Manitoba. The MTS FiON Network uses fibre-to-the-home technology to provide customers with the most advanced telecommunication services MTS currently offers, including its innovative MTS Ultimate TV service.

"We can now add Neepawa to the growing list of communities that enjoy this exciting new technology," said MTS President Kelvin Shepherd. "With MTS Ultimate TV and the Whole Home PVR, Neepawa residents can pause and rewind live TV so they'll never miss a minute of the local hockey game on Neepawa Access TV. They can also keep up with their favourite players using the 'Facebook on TV' app."

The launch of MTS's fibre optic network gives Neepawa residents access to high-speed Internet services and one of the most feature rich television services in Canada, MTS Ultimate TV. MTS Ultimate TV offers 110 HD channels, the Whole Home PVR service, a wide variety of informative and entertaining apps, and many other innovative features. MTS Ultimate TV also offers an extensive line-up of over 350 digital TV and music channels, and access to Video on Demand and Pay-Per-View events.

Neepawa Mayor Ken Waddell joined Mr. Shepherd at a celebratory event today to promote the launch of the new network. Stu Briese, MLA for Agassiz, also attended the celebration at the Team Electronics store.

"Technology is important to the growth of our community," said Mayor Waddell. "We appreciate the investment MTS is making in Neepawa and look forward to the many benefits its fibre-optic network will bring us."

As part of the launch event, a Neepawa resident won a 40-inch LCD HD Samsung TV plus six months of free MTS Ultimate TV service.

MTS is investing $125 million over several years to deploy its fibre-to-the-home network to 120,000 homes and enable MTS Ultimate TV service in more than 20 communities in Manitoba. MTS Ultimate TV service is currently available to over 95 per cent of Winnipeg households, and in Brandon, Portage La Prairie and a growing number of homes in Selkirk, Steinbach, Dauphin, Thompson, and The Pas.
