Most Secure Broadband Wireless Radio in its Class is Now FIPS-Certified;
Redline Communication's AN-80i product Achieves First FIPS 140-2 Validation
-- Product of Choice throughout DoD Recognized for Unmatched Security, Reliability and Performance --
TORONTO, June 11 /CNW/ - Redline Communications Group Inc. ("Redline") (TSX: RDL), a leading global provider of wireless broadband infrastructure products, today announced that its high-capacity, high-speed, long-range broadband radio family, the AN-80i, is the first product of its kind to be awarded a Level 2 Federal Information Processing Standards Publications (FIPS) 140-2 certification. FIPS 140-2 certification is a requirement for any cryptographic product to be used in a U.S. government agency network where information security is paramount.
Developed in partnership with the U.S. military to meet their stringent requirements for security, manageability and footprint, the flagship AN-80i is the most secure broadband radio of its kind and the most-deployed commercial off-the-shelf broadband radio in the history of the U.S. Department of Defense. Designed for complex and sensitive applications where reliability and information security are crucial, the cost-effective AN-80i provides high-capacity, long-range point-to-point and point-to-multipoint communications links, and is used by military organizations to support critical C4I operations in tactical, garrison, and range environments.
The Redline AN-80i has been deployed extensively by tactical units in support of OIF and OEF in Iraq and Afghanistan to greatly expand their Wide Area Network (WAN) capabilities. This has been especially important at the below-brigade (Battalion and Company) level where satellite communications in the field may not be practical or reliable. This transport of mission-critical voice, video and data has been essential in providing increased situational awareness and mission effectiveness.
"The Marine Corps Wireless Point-to-Point Link (WPPL) program had a long-standing requirement to add a certified FIPS-140-2 transmission encryption capability in order to ensure completely secure wireless communications," said Major William Cornell, USMC. "Redline's high-security, validated AN-80i broadband wireless radio makes this critical feature a reality."
Operating in the 4.9 GHz public safety band, the 5.2 GHz - 5.8 GHz licensed-exempt band and 3.3-3.8 GHz WiMAX bands, the AN-80i is the only solution that offers this combination of range, capacity, performance and security. The radio provides AES-128 and AES-256 encryption, X.509 certificate-based authentication, and built-in tamper-detection function - all features which were vital in securing the FIPS 140-2 certification. The AN-80i goes beyond the FIPS requirements to include security mechanisms that protect the system against malicious attacks such as man-in-the-middle, denial of service or replay attacks.
"This is a significant achievement for Redline and for our customers, who have the assurance that our products meet and exceed the highest standards for wireless encryption security," said Eric Melka, acting CEO Redline Communications, Inc. "In evolving battlefield environments and base installations, secure high-quality video, data, and voice are critical. We're proud to deliver a validated communications solution to maximize the safety of personnel and the integrity of information and military operations."
In a Point to Point configuration the AN-80i delivers speeds of over 100 Mbps making it the ideal choice for high capacity backhaul applications. In a Point to multi-Point MP configuration, the AN-80i delivers speeds of over 50 Mbps and supports a full range of Quality of Service (QoS) controls to enable premium services for voice, data and video applications. With either configuration, ultra-low latency is achieved - as little as 1 msec, for fast response time.
In addition to high speed and low latency, the AN-80i delivers industry-leading 29-year Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and the industry's lowest documented field failure rate, making the AN-80i the perfect choice for mission-critical deployments.
About FIPS
The FIPS 140-2 standard is a joint effort by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in the United States, and the Communications Security Establishment (CSEC), under the Canadian government. The Cryptographic Module Validation Program (CMVP), headed by NIST, provides module and algorithm testing for FIPS 140-2, which applies to Federal agencies using validated cryptographic modules to protect sensitive government data in computer and telecommunication systems. FIPS 140-2 provides stringent third-party assurance of security claims on any product containing cryptography that may be purchased by a government agency.
