Minister Qualtrough Announces Funding for the 2017 White Spot | Delta Road Race

The Government of Canada invests in the only UCI-sanctioned professional road cycling race for both men and women in British Columbia

DELTA, BC, May 25, 2017 /CNW/ - The Honourable Carla Qualtrough, Minister of Sport and Persons with Disabilities, today announced funding of $50,000 for Cycling Canada Cyclisme to support the 2017 White Spot | Delta Road Race, which will take place on July 9, 2017 in Delta, British Columbia. This support is being provided through Sport Canada's Hosting Program.

The 2017 White Spot | Delta Road Race offers athletes an opportunity to develop their skills while inspiring the next generation of Canadian athletes. The race will give Canadian athletes a chance to earn valuable International Cycling Union (UCI) points that will help them qualify for World Championships. The event is also a significant opportunity for athletes, officials and coaches to gain valuable competitive experience.

The 2017 White Spot | Delta Road Race will take place on July 9th, 2017 in Delta, British Columbia. It will attract close to 150 athletes, coaches and support staff from 10 countries.

The 2017 White Spot | Delta Road Race is a men's and women's UCI event. The race will attract all the major North American professional teams, along with several international teams.

The race, which is part of BC Superweek, is the final event of the Tour de Delta and an important marker in the UCI racing season.
