MONTREAL, March 31 /CNW Telbec/ - Mighty Mac announced today the company has reached an agreement with Global Brands Group to become the authorized Master Distributor of 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa(TM) Official Licensed Products and FIFA Collections football lifestyle apparel and accessories throughout Canada.
The multi-year exclusive distribution rights deal has been secured following the announcement in July last year that the first seasonal range of the FIFA Collections will be available in stores from Spring 2010.
FIFA Collections, which comprises six separate ranges of apparel - 1904, Editions, Heritage Ts, Code, Essentials and Event - have been developed by Global Brands Group since the company was appointed by FIFA as its worldwide exclusive Master Licensee. FIFA Collections takes the authentic heritage and values of FIFA as design inspiration. www.FIFA.com/FIFAcollections
Simon Hawkins, Snr. V.P. FIFA Sales, Global Brands Group, said:
"Mighty Mac provides FIFA and Global Brands Group with a first class distribution and retail partner for the FIFA branded clothing and merchandise ranges. We are very excited about the prospects of really creating additional momentum for FIFA and football in such a large and sports passionate market alongside such a strong organisation".
Christine Larente, V.P Sales, Mighty Mac, commented:
"As an authorized Master Distributor for the 2010 FIFA World Cup(TM) official fan merchandise we are now tasked with delivering product to major retailers, so fans across Canada can support their team and buy a piece of 2010 FIFA World Cup(TM) memorabilia. The distribution experience we have built up over the years in sports and event merchandise sectors means we are well positioned to take both the event and FIFA Collections brand opportunities to market."
FIFA, the world governing body of football, is considered one of the world's most recognised corporate marks. Over 26 billion cumulative viewers watched the 64 matches of the 2006 FIFA World Cup(TM) and there was over $US2 billion in FIFA related retail sales generated globally. However, in the 105 year history of the organization, this is the first time that an official signature collection of merchandise bearing the FIFA mark has been launched outside of direct connections to actual FIFA competitions such as the FIFA World Cup(TM) events.
FIFA Collections are scheduled to be available for a Spring/Summer 2010 launch in the market and will be available in select retailers nationwide.
As part of the international roll-out of the FIFA brand, Global Brands Group is undergoing a process of signing exclusive strategic agreements with Master Distributors in each territory. In addition to the appointment of Mighty Mac, agreements have already been reached in seven markets (Australia, Central America, Holland, India, Japan, South Africa, USA), with further deals in discussion.
The Master Distributors may also be responsible for the creation of FIFA Official Stores(R), the first of which opened at Singapore's new T3 terminal at Changi airport in January 2008. The second of these stores, and Global Brands first in Europe, opened at Paris' Orly airport, France in October 2009. Official FIFA Stores(R) will act as a primary destination for fans, offering them a unique football inspired shopping experience in addition to exclusive collections.
