Michael Bertuzzi joins Centennial College as professor of Tourism and Hospitality

TORONTO, Feb. 2, 2017 /CNW/ - Centennial College has welcomed Michael Bertuzzi to the School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts as its newest professor. He joins a diverse and ambitious team of educators at Ontario's oldest public college.

Bertuzzi is a passionate tourism professional that has amassed more than 15 years of experience working locally and internationally in everything from outdoor sports, to adventure and cultural tourism, to massive event tourism that required fostering relationships between the public and private sectors.

For the past five years Bertuzzi has held a number of leadership and management roles with the City of Toronto, including Project Manager of Visitor Services, Economic Development & Culture, Acting Manager of Tourism Services, and Supervisor of Pan Am/Parapan Am Games Tourism.

Prior to working with the City of Toronto, Bertuzzi spent time in China developing local tourism businesses specializing in outdoor education, corporate incentive and leisure travel programs. His successive goal attainment in leadership roles and cultivating business growth led to Bertuzzi managing hospitality programs at the Olympic Games in Beijing 2008, Vancouver 2010, London 2012 and Rio 2016.

"We are honoured to have Michael Bertuzzi join our Tourism faculty," says Joe Baker, Dean, School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts. "In addition to teaching tourism and hospitality courses, he will be leading the development of our new Food Tourism post-graduate certificate program, which launches this fall."

Bertuzzi holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Lakehead University, and is looking forward to pursuing his Master's degree.
