Metro organizing fundraising campaign to aid Haiti

MONTREAL, Jan. 15 /CNW Telbec/ - Touched by the catastrophe currently gripping Haiti, Metro is launching a broad fundraising campaign to support the Canadian Red Cross' relief efforts in Haiti. Starting Monday, January 18, Metro will appeal to its customers' generosity and implement a variety of methods to collect or encourage cash donations.

In all Metro and Super C stores across Quebec, customers will be able to leave a donation in the special collection boxes located at each register. On the company's consumer website (www.metro.ca), a banner will invite individuals to make online donations directly to the Red Cross. All funds collected will go to the Canadian Red Cross emergency assistance fund benefiting people in Haiti affected by last Tuesday's devastating earthquake.

The Metro fundraising campaign will continue until February 10, 2010.
