MEDIA ALERT - DOWNTOWN PARKING GARAGE TRANSFORMS INTO LARGE-SCALE ART EXHIBIT
AND CONCERT HALL FOR ONE-DAY CELEBRATION OF CANADIAN TALENT
TORONTO, Sept. 8 /CNW/ - As Toronto braces for the arrival of some of the world's best-known talents, ABSOLUT VODKA prepares to celebrate emerging Canadian talent with a dramatic event boldly staged on the opening night of the Toronto International Film Festival.
For one day only, a nondescript downtown parking garage will be transformed into an imaginative, art-inspired event space that will bring the concrete structure to life in a way never before experienced. The unique event space will take shape throughout the day with plenty of photo/video opportunities available.
Media are invited for an advance, behind-the-scenes glimpse of the dramatic transformation:
- Two up-and-coming Canadian visual artists - Kellen Hatanaka and Beside Herself - will juxtapose their divergent styles with specially-designed art installations, turning rows of one-dimensional parking spaces into a larger-than-life, 'living' gallery that guests will be invited to walk through and 'experience' in the evening
- Multiple production teams will outfit the car-park as a high-tech concert venue by installing a full performance stage designed to welcome an impressive assemblage of great Canadian talent, including:
- Shad
- Scratch Skratch Scratch
- Shaun Boothe
- DJ New Money
- VIP lounges will spring up from parking spaces to host the celebrities and stars that are expected to attend this celebration of Canadian art and music
- Additional opportunities include:
- One-on-one interviews with the artists/performers
- Sound checks (by request)
- WHAT: ABSOLUT St.ART
- WHEN: Thursday, September 9, 2010; Photo Video Opportunity from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM (golf carts available for camera crews on a first-come, first-served basis)
