Media Advisory/Photo Opportunity - Grand opening of The George: George Brown College's first student residence

TORONTO, Sept. 12, 2016 /CNW/ - George Brown College will celebrate the historic grand opening of its first student residence, The George, on Sept. 14, 2016.  Centrally located in the Canary District, the building previously housed American athletes during the 2015 Pan Am & ParaPan Am Games before being transformed into a state-of-the-art student residence.

George Brown College President Anne Sado and Glen Murray, Minister of the Environment and Climate Change (MPP-Toronto-Centre), will join students, staff, community members and supporters to celebrate the grand opening of The George, and to acknowledge George Brown's contribution to revitalizing the East Don Lands community. The student residence is the college's second significant contribution to the neighbourhood, following the 2012 opening of its Waterfront Campus.

Located at 80 Cooperage Street, The George boasts fully furnished two-bedroom suites for 500 students, a modern conference centre and sweeping views of the city.

Media are invited to attend the grand opening celebration, take photos, tour the residence, and interview college representatives.
