Media Advisory/Photo Opportunity - Canadian Para-swimmers to be nominated to Toronto 2015 team

Event coincides with ticket launch, CPC media summit

TORONTO, March 17, 2015 /CNW/ - The Canadian Paralympic Committee and Swimming Canada will announce the athletes and coaches nominated to the Toronto 2015 Parapan American Games Team on Monday, March 23 at 8:15 a.m.

The announcement will take place on the pool deck at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre, following the Can Am Para-swimming Championships held there over the weekend and just before the CPC media summit opens for the full day. A maximum of 40 swimmers may be nominated.

The Para-swimming team will be the first of 14 Canadian teams to be nominated for the Toronto 2015 Parapan Am Games, which take place Aug. 7 to 15. Canada is expecting to send approximately 250 athletes to the Games and has a goal of finishing in the top three nations in the total medal count.

With tickets going on sale Mar. 23 at 1 p.m., Toronto 2015 mascot PACHI will be onsite with the swimmers to celebrate.
