Media Advisory - Why is Foreign Investment in Canada Declining? What is Canada Doing Wrong?

CALGARY, Sept. 21, 2015 /CNW/ - Foreign direct investment (FDI) is a significant driving force behind economic growth - but investment in Canada is dropping. Does Canadian foreign investment policy require an overhaul? How can Canada attract its "fair share" of foreign investment? What sectors are being hit hardest by the decline of foreign investment?  Do Canadians even care?

A two-day forum is being hosted in Saskatoon that brings together investment, business and global affairs experts from around the world to diagnose the problem, and offer real solutions.   Speakers include:

  • Hon. Perrin Beatty, President and CEO, Canadian Chamber of Commerce
  • David Waugh, CEO, North Atlantic Potash
  • Frank Graves, President, EKOS
  • Jia Wang, Deputy Director of the China Institute at the University of Alberta
