Media Advisory - OPSEU news conference to address violence inside mental health facilities

TORONTO, Oct. 17, 2016 /CNW/ - The president of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) will address the impact of provincial underfunding on the safety of workers and patients in psychiatric workplaces, at a Queen's Park news conference Tuesday.

                Date:

Tuesday, October 18, 2016

                Time:

2:00 p.m.

                Place:

Queen's Park media studio, Toronto

"There is a link between the escalating problem of violence and the underfunding of mental health care," said OPSEU President Warren (Smokey) Thomas. "It affects our members and the patients they care for. We can't begin to address this issue of violence until the government tackles the problem of inadequate funding."

OPSEU members who work on the frontlines of mental health service delivery will be available at the news conference to share their workplace experiences.
