Media Advisory - Ontario Nurses' Association President in Kingston Today

KINGSTON, ON, Aug. 17, 2015 /CNW/ - The President of the Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA) will be in Kingston today and tomorrow to visit with St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital nurses. She is available for media interviews.

Linda Haslam-Stroud, RN, along with ONA First Vice-President Vicki McKenna, RN, will present the hospital nurses with white scrub tops that the nurses were fitted for during Nursing Week 2015.

Haslam-Stroud and McKenna will arrive in Kingston on Monday afternoon and remain until noon on Tuesday, August 18. Haslam-Stroud notes that a number of issues continue to be of concern at Kingston General Hospital, including decreased RN care hours for patients, and the inability to staff the hospitals to baseline RN levels. Haslam-Stroud remains an outspoken advocate for nursing care in the province.

To arrange an interview with Haslam-Stroud, please contact ONA's media relations officer (below).

ONA is the union representing 60,000 registered nurses and allied health professionals, as well as more than 14,000 nursing student affiliates providing care in hospitals, long-term care, the community, public health, clinics and industry.
