Media Advisory - Nurses to Hold Town Hall Meeting about RN Cuts, Patient Care

LONDON, ON, Nov. 24, 2016 /CNW/ - Members of the Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA) will be holding a town hall meeting to share their experiences working on the front lines of health care.

Registered Nurses from London Health Sciences Centre, ONA First Vice-President Vicki McKenna, RN, area MPPs, and Ontario NDP Leader Andrea Horwath are expected to attend.

WHAT: ONA Town Hall Meeting
WHEN: Friday, November 25, 2016, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
WHERE: Courtyard Marriott Hotel, Wellington South Room, 864 Exeter Rd., London, ON

Last month, ONA launched a new wave of its public awareness campaign "The Truth Hurts. Nurses know." In new television, radio, and social media advertisements, Canada's largest nurses' union is taking its concerns to the public about prolonged registered nurse (RN) cuts in the province's hospitals to illustrate the significant impact that RN cuts are having on patients. Ontario has the worst RN-to-population ratio of any province in Canada. The ads can be viewed online at http://nursesknow.ona.org.

ONA is the union representing 62,000 registered nurses and allied health professionals, as well as more than 14,000 nursing student affiliates, providing care in hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, clinics and industry.
