Media Advisory - ICBC and police remind drivers to slow down

We can all make intersections safer

VANCOUVER, May 20 /CNW/ - ICBC and police will announce a province-wide intersection safety awareness and enforcement campaign directly following the Vancouver Police Department media briefing on Friday, May 21 at 10:30 a.m.

The campaign will kick off with speakers and an interactive demonstration of the types of challenges drivers face at intersections. There will also be a photo opportunity following the briefing to help raise awareness of intersection safety.

    
    Who:      ICBC Road Safety director Nicolas Jimenez
              VPD Superintendent Andy Hobbs
              RCMP Superintendent Norm Gaumont

    What:     Launch of the intersection safety awareness and enforcement
              campaign. Media are invited to observe police officers
              targeting dangerous driving behaviours at a nearby intersection
              following the event.

    Where:    Media briefing at the VPD headquarters.
              VPD enforcement at the intersection of Cambie and 7th,
              Vancouver.

    When:     Media briefing on Friday, May 21, 2010 at 10:30 a.m.
              Photo opportunity with police officers between 11 a.m. and
              12 p.m.
