Media Advisory - Air Traffic Controllers pull 40,000 pound plane for one mile
TORONTO, June 18 /CNW Telbec/ - A team of 10 Air Traffic Controllers from the NAV CANADA Area Control Centre in Toronto will attempt to pull a 40,000 pound jet for one continuous mile at Pearson International Airport. The goal of the Pull for a Cure is to raise funds in support of the Canadian Cancer Society.
The Pull for a Cure was inspired by a former friend and co-worker of the team, Eric Paraskevopoulos, who lost his battle with cancer in late 2008.
WHAT: Pull for a Cure: A team of 10 Air Traffic Controllers will attempt to pull the NAV CANADA CRJ Flight Inspection Aircraft for one continuous mile. WHEN: Saturday, June 19. 10:30 a.m.: Registration opens 11:00 a.m.: Introductions begin 11:30 a.m.: The Pull begins and is expected to take 45 minutes 12:15 p.m.: Closing remarks and cheque presentation WHERE: Toronto's Lester B. Pearson International Airport. Registration at the GTAA Maintenance Facility: 3111 Convair Dr. (Directions below). NOTE: An event wristband will be provided at registration and is required by security.

Greater Toronto Airport Authority (GTAA) 3111 Convair Dr. Mississauga, Ontario - West of Toronto: Take the 401 Eastbound to the Dixie Rd. collector lanes to the Renforth exit. Turn left on Renforth and take the next left at Convair Dr. Parking will be on your right. - North of Toronto: Take the 427 Southbound and follow the Pearson exit. Follow the signs for Airport Rd. Turn left on Airport Rd.
