Edmonton is the first market in the country to kick-off McDonald's Create Your TasteTM burger concept
EDMONTON, Oct. 8, 2015 /CNW/ - Today, Edmontonians will have the chance to make all of their burger wishes come true, as the city becomes the first market in the country to roll out McDonald's Canada's new modernized guest experience that includes placing the burger customization process in guests' hands.
All 11 restaurants in the greater Edmonton area, including Lloydminster, Grande Prairie and Sherwood Park, will feature self-order kiosks that enable guests to order from the new customizable 'Create Your Taste' burger menu. They can build their own premium burgers from scratch, choosing from nearly 30 options, including five types of cheese, 12 toppings, two buns, a lettuce wrap and nine sauces. Guests will also be treated to table delivery, allowing them to sit down and enjoy their drinks while they wait for their customized burger creation to be made fresh off the grill and brought to their table.
"With the introduction of our new guest experience and Create Your Taste burger concept, we're thrilled our Edmonton restaurants were selected to evolve McDonald's bold new brand transformation," said Shelly Hansen, Regional Vice President, Western Canada. "Edmonton was the natural choice as it's a market with one of the highest proportion of re-imaged restaurants and our local franchisees were excited to step forward for the opportunity."
The modernized restaurant and guest experience is expected to create at least 150 new positions across the 11 Edmonton area restaurants, with around 10 to 15 additional jobs per restaurant. The company will also be investing an incremental $200,000 per restaurant as part of its accelerated growth plan leading up to its 50th anniversary in 2017.
"McDonald's is innovating and changing to meet the needs of our guests. With so many of our guests already customizing their orders for our other menu items, either by requesting additional sauce or removing bacon, we knew the time was right to introduce Create Your Taste which places all of the control in our guests' hands to create the flavour combination that suits them," added Hansen.
