Mattamy Homes Expands US Presence With Launch of New Division in SE Florida

Experienced homebuilding executive Lara Swanson will lead the company's operations and growth strategy in Mattamy's newest  market

ORLANDO, FL, May 9, 2017 /CNW/ - Mattamy Homes, North America's largest privately owned homebuilder, is pleased to announce the launch of its newest division – Southeast Florida. 

Mattamy's entrance into this regional Florida market is the latest example of the company's commitment to being a major presence in the US homebuilding industry, and of its confidence in the future of housing locally in Florida.

"We believe that Southeast Florida is a highly desirable and active geographic area, and will nicely complement our other divisions in terms of strategic growth in the US," says Jim Leiferman, President of Mattamy's US Group. To lead the company's newest division, Mattamy welcomes aboard Lara Swanson, who joined the team on May 8 as President, Southeast Florida Division. Lara has had an impressive career in the Florida homebuilding industry. Most recently she was the Division Vice President in SE Florida for Meritage Homes, where she led the formation of this start-up division. Lara was also the VP of Land for Meritage in Orlando. Previously she was in land acquisition and development for Pulte in Orlando, and for CSX and The Wood Development Co. in Jacksonville. Lara has a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida, and is a licensed Community Association Manager by the State of Florida. Of note, earlier this year she was named by Professional Builder magazine as one of the Top 40 Under 40 industry professionals in the country.

Lara will be responsible for leading all aspects of Mattamy's business in Southeast Florida. Her strong local land acquisition skills will allow the Division to be grown on an organic basis, vs. nurturing the business out of another Mattamy office in Florida. As such, her initial responsibilities will be to source, analyze and submit land acquisition proposals, and then to quickly grow the Southeast Florida operation into an operating Division. Lara will also be setting up an office locally and hiring staff as needed.
