Intelligent Occupancy Sensor on display in Texas Instruments booth November 9 to 12, 2010
QUÉBEC CITY, Oct. 13 /CNW Telbec/ - Lyrtech Inc. (Lyrtech) (TSX Venture Exchange: LTK), a worldwide leader in digital signal processing technologies, is proud to announce that its intelligent occupancy sensing (IOS) solution will be exhibited at Electronica 2010 at the Texas Instruments booth from November 9 to 12, 2010, in Munich, Germany.
This occupancy sensing setup will show booth visitors how a single IOS unit can monitor multiple zones for light control and count the number of people in a defined area for HVAC adjustment.
The Lyrtech IOS processes feeds from its onboard sensor through a powerful digital media processor based on DaVinciTM technology from Texas Instruments. The device consists of a scalable, programmable digital signal processor, accelerators and peripherals optimized for a broad spectrum of end equipments, such as Lyrtech's IOS.
Intelligent occupancy sensing is a promising technology set to replace older, less accurate, sensing technologies such as passive infrared and ultrasounds. The Lyrtech solution can detect presence of people even with little to no motion. The device can also offer reliable people counting in predetermined areas. In a world where energy usage and energy efficiency are major concerns, intelligent occupancy sensing is going to become pivotal in smart buildings so that central controllers become capable of automatically adjusting heat, airflow or light use. Such technology also opens new horizons in the safety and security markets without compromising on privacy, as well as in marketing and room management, among others.
"Based on DaVinci™ Digital Media technology from Texas Instruments, Lyrtech's Intelligent Occupancy Sensor solution helps provide a greener, more energy-efficient environment," says Suman Narayan, general manager DSP C6000 at Texas Instruments. "TI high-performance embedded processors, such as our digital signal processors based on DaVinci technology, allow companies to create innovative applications. Lyrtech utilizes TI DaVinci technology to develop vision-based applications with analytics, such as highly accurate occupancy and motion detection functionality, to utilize energy only when necessary."
"We are highly committed to seeing this technology bear fruit in the building efficiency sector, a rapidly expanding field at the moment. This latest relationship with TI, based on our technology and know-how, will help ensure a bright future for our IOS," said Louis Bélanger, president and CEO of Lyrtech.
Through this exhibition, Texas Instruments and Lyrtech aim to demonstrate their dedication to this very promising technology.
