TORONTO, Sept. 16 /CNW/ - Fermentations! is pleased to announce Localfest 2009, giving people the opportunity to make wine from organic grapes, brew beer with organic hops, and make apple cider from LFP certified apples. Localfest begins September 15, and continues until October 15 at Fermentations! 201 Danforth Avenue Toronto Ontario M4K 1N2.
Since 1993, Fermentations! has been Toronto's premiere destination for fans of exceptional wines, beers, ciders and meads. Localfest is an annual festival focusing attention on the exceptional farmers near the GTA that work year round for us. Fermentations! is offering Torontonians the opportunity to use it's award winning services to make wines from a multitude of Niagara grown grapes, including organically grown Cabernet Franc and Vidal. Fans of exceptional beers can brew using organically grown hops from Prince Edward County, while cider lovers can enjoy their favorite elixir made from LFP certified apples from Smithville.
Over the last several years, Fermentations! has made a concerted effort to search out the best of what Niagara offers, and clients have responded very positively, supporting their taste buds and our farmers by making fantastic Chardonnay, Reisling, Vidal, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and more. "A bottle of good California wine may be pleasing, but nowhere near as exciting as a great bottle of wine made from Niagara grapes" according to Charles Fajgenbaum, owner of Fermentations!
"Last year, we added in LFP certified apple cider, which has turned out to be a huge favorite with our clients, quickly eclipsing our demand for ciders made from conventional products. This year we have added in the option of organic hops for brewing beer. We received samples of the hops and our test batches continue to emphasize the benefits of buying fresh and local, as the hop aromatics literally leap out of the glass."
Using the services of Fermentations! provides several key advantages for clients. Clients can save sixty per cent or more making their own wines and beers as these products are exempt from the multitude of taxes, charges, and mark-ups that are part of the traditional retail way of buying wine and beer. Quality is unsurpassed, with wines, and beers made at Fermentations! regularly outscoring commercially produced products. Finally, Localfest also supports our farmers and our environment. "Just think of the carbon footprint of a bottle of wine made in Australia, or a bottle of beer brewed in Germany, or a bottle of English Cider. Compare that to the much smaller footprint of buying local. Local wins hands down, and tastes fantastic to boot" said Charles.
