Local communicator takes top international award

VANCOUVER, Jan. 29 /CNW/ - IABC-BC (International Association of Business Communicators-British Columbia) is delighted to announce that communications professional, Jennifer Wah, ABC (Accredited Business Communicator), has won the prestigious Master Communicator (MC) of the Year Award.

The IABC MC designation is the association's highest honour in Canada and recognizes outstanding service and leadership in IABC as well as within the communications profession. IABC Canada has honored only 39 individuals with this designation since it was inaugurated in 1980, with the BC chapter having six MCs, one of the highest amounts per chapter. Master Communicators are nominated by their peers and a maximum of two members are selected annually, one in each of the Eastern and Western Regions.

"Jennifer is a passionate communicator and business leader with a casual style and sharp business sense. She is known and recognized as a compelling writer and visual communicator," says the 2009 chair of the Master Communicator selection committee Tudor Williams, ABC, MC and IABC Fellow. "An avid advocate for the vision of IABC, Jennifer was instrumental in developing the Accreditation Completion Program, which became a model for similar programs around the world."

"We are very proud to have another Master Communicator in our midst," says Angela Wilson, IABC-BC president and a communications consultant at Fraser Health. "Jennifer is a passionate communications professional. She has made significant contributions to the profession and our chapter and this award is a well deserved recognition of that."
