<p>SANTA MONICA, Calif., <chron>Sept. 17</chron> /CNW/ -- Lionsgate (NYSE:   LGF), the leading next generation studio, scored across all home entertainment revenue channels this past week with the release of the Lakeshore Entertainment produced CRANK 2 HIGH VOLTAGE, which sold nearly 1.4 million DVD units in its first week and raced to a #2 debut on both the DVD sell-through and rental charts.  This comes on the heels of the studio's latest success on the theatrical side as Tyler Perry's I Can Do Bad All By Myself, opened at number one at the North American theatrical box office with <money>$23.5 million</money> in its opening weekend.  CRANK 2 HIGH VOLTAGE is positioned to become Lionsgate's sixth theatrical title on DVD this year to achieve a box office-to-DVD conversion rate greater than 100%, following in the footsteps of New In Town, The Spirit, <location>Bangkok</location> Dangerous, Transporter 3 and Punisher 2: War Zone.  Lionsgate continues to lead the industry in box office-to-DVD conversion rate for the third straight year.</p>

<p>The non-stop, action packed sequel also debuted in the top slot on the Blu-ray charts.  In addition, CRANK 2 HIGH VOLTAGE also came out of its first week as the number one movie download on iTunes, where it was one of the first titles to appear with digital special features included.</p>

<p>Chev Chelios wakes up to discover his nearly indestructible heart has been surgically removed and replaced with a battery-operated ticker that requires regular jolts of electricity in order to work.  After a dangerous escape from his captors, Chev is on the run again, this time from the charismatic Mexican gang boss El Huron (<person>Clifton Collins</person>, Jr., Star Trek) and the Chinese Triads, headed by the dangerous 100 year-old Poon Dong (<person>David Carradine</person>, Kill Bill: Vol. 2).  Once again turning to Doc Miles (Dwight Yoakam, Four Christmases) for medical advice, receiving help from his friend Kaylo's twin brother Venus (<person>Efren Ramirez</person>, Napoleon Dynamite) and re-connecting with his girlfriend Eve (<person>Amy Smart</person>, TV's "Scrubs"), who is no longer in the dark about what he does for a living, Chev is determined to get his real heart back and wreak vengeance on whoever stole it.</p>
