LIONSGATE RENEWS AND EXPANDS LONG-TERM OUTPUT DEAL WITH METROPOLITAN FILM EXPORT IN FRANCE

SANTA MONICA, Calif. and VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Oct. 8, 2015 /CNW/ -- Reflecting its continued growth in key territories around the world, Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF), a premier next generation global content leader, has renewed its output agreement with Metropolitan Film Export for the distribution of Lionsgate films in France, the two companies announced today. The new agreement encompasses films that commence principal photography after January 1, 2016.

"We're delighted to extend and expand our long-standing partnership with our friends Samuel and Victor in this key territory and excited to bring them our strongest film slate ever," said Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Co-Chairs Patrick Wachsberger and Rob Friedman and International COO Andrew Kramer. "We believe that our line-up of high-profile event films, combined with Metropolitan's marketing expertise and distribution prowess, will continue to create exciting growth opportunities for both our companies in this major market."

"During the course of our partnership with Patrick, Rob, Andrew and the rest of their team, we have watched Lionsgate emerge as a dynamic and innovative studio and a major creative force in the global marketplace," said Metropolitan co-founders Samuel and Victor Hadida. "Led by big crowd-pleasing movies like Mockingjay 2, Saban's Power Rangers, and The Odyssey, this is Lionsgate's broadest and deepest film slate ever, and we expect it to resonate with our audiences for years to come."

Lionsgate's partnership with Metropolitan encompasses a muscular portfolio of eagerly-anticipated blockbuster franchises, potential tent-poles and star-driven event films, including: Denis Villeneuve's critically acclaimed revenge thriller and Cannes Film Festival sensation Sicario; The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, the final chapter of one of the most successful film franchises of all time; the first live-action Saban's Power Rangers film; the epic fantasy adventure, The Odyssey, directed by Francis Lawrence and reuniting The Hunger Games creative team; and The Kingkiller Chronicle, a recently announced multiplatform property based on the worldwide, bestselling fantasy series of books.

The output arrangement with Metropolitan is managed by Crystal Bourbeau, Executive Vice President, International Sales, Lionsgate UK. The announcement is the latest in a series of new or renewed output deals around the world including Buena Vista International in Russia, StudioCanal in Germany, Nordisk in Scandinavia, and Belga in Benelux, among others, as Lionsgate continues to expand its global presence and worldwide distribution infrastructure.
