Lionsgate Music Announces Signing of Emily Osment to Joint Venture Publishing

Actress /Singer /Songwriter To Release First Album In 2010 </pre> <p>SANTA MONICA, Calif. and <location>VANCOUVER</location>, British Columbia, <chron>Dec. 2</chron> /CNW/ -- Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF), the leading next generation studio, has acquired rights through its joint venture with Wind-up Records' music publishing affiliates, to songs written by 17-year-old actress/singer/songwriter <person>Emily Osment</person>, one of the stars of TV's "<person>Hannah Montana</person>," as part of its continuing expansion into music publishing, it was announced today by Lionsgate Music <person>President Jay Faires</person>. Osment, who recently won "Best Sidekick" at the Teen Choice Awards and was nominated for a People's Choice Award, has already begun writing material for her first album which has a planned release for Summer 2010.</p> <p/> <p>"It's exciting to be working with a young artist who has already proven herself in Lionsgate's core businesses of film and TV, and we look forward to working with Emily and the Wind-up Records team as she makes her move into music," said Faires. "We are launching a music publishing business with some of the most exciting, cutting edge young talent in the industry, along with some of the most entrepreneurial and innovative recording acts in the industry."</p> <p/> <p>Emily's debut EP, All The Right Wrongs, was released on <chron>October 27, 2009</chron> and debuted at #1 on Billboard's Heatseekers Chart. The EP features the hit single "All The Way Up," which is currently in the Top 10 at Radio Disney. Famed video director <person>Roman White</person> (<person>Carrie Underwood</person>, <person>Kelly Clarkson</person>) directed the video for the single which premiered on Yahoo Music and in less than 3 months already has over a million plays on YouTube.</p> <p/> <p>"Emily is a talented songwriter and is extremely passionate about music," said Wind-up Records <person>President Edward Vetri</person>. The song was number one for 9 weeks on Radio Disney and to this date has sold more than 300,000 downloads. Osment also recorded a remake of "Once Upon A Dream" for the 50th anniversary Platinum Edition release of "SLEEPING BEAUTY." The video for the song drew 900,000 YouTube views in less than four days. Earlier this year, she starred in the Disney Channel movie "Dadnapped" for which she also recorded the song "The Hero In Me." Osment currently has nearly 400,000 followers on Twitter.
