TORONTO, Dec. 7, 2018 /CNW/ - Capping off a year that has been marked by changes big and small, the Law Society of Ontario has been named as one of Greater Toronto's Top Employers for 2019. This is the 13th year in a row that the Law Society has received this distinction.
"We are absolutely honoured by this recognition," says Diana Miles, Chief Executive Officer of the Law Society. "To be seen as one of the best organizations in a city like Toronto for 13 years straight is no small feat. It speaks to the high standards that we place on ourselves, both as an employer and as employees."
In 2018, the Law Society formally adopted the name "Law Society of Ontario," replacing its previous title "Law Society of Upper Canada." It was also the year where Diana Miles became the new CEO of the Law Society. "People are telling us they are very proud to work for the Law Society and really believe in our public interest mandate," says Miles. "The message we often hear is 'we love what we do and what we do matters.' They really enjoy the openness of our communications and our supportive and collegial workplace culture."
Held annually, the Greater Toronto Top Employer competition is run by Mediacorp Canada Inc., the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers. It is open to private and public sector employers of any size who have head offices or principal places of business located in the GTA.
The Law Society regulates lawyers and paralegals in Ontario in the public interest. The Law Society has a mandate to protect the public interest, to maintain and advance the cause of justice and the rule of law, to facilitate access to justice for the people of Ontario, and to act in a timely, open and efficient manner.
