Lake Winnipeg East Side Road Project - Availability of $50,000 to Participate
in the Environmental Assessment
OTTAWA, May 17 /CNW Telbec/ - The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency is making available $50,000 under its Participant Funding Program to assist individuals and groups to participate in the environmental assessment of the Lake Winnipeg East Side Road Project in Manitoba.
To receive funding, successful applicants must participate in the environmental assessment of the project. This funding is intended for activities that will follow the public consultation currently underway on the scope of the environmental assessment for the project.
A funding review committee, independent of the environmental assessment process, will consider all applications and make recommendations on the allocation of funds. Applications received by the Agency by June 21, 2010 will be considered.
Information on the funding program is available at www.ceaa-acee.gc.ca. Information on the project is also available on the Agency's Web site in the Canadian Environmental Assessment Registry, under reference number 09-03-52056.
The East Side Road Authority is proposing to construct, operate and maintain a 155 km all-season road from Provincial Road 304 at Manigotagan to Berens River in Manitoba. The proposed project is located on the east side of Lake Winnipeg approximately 200 km northeast of the City of Winnipeg. The project also includes temporary facilities and associated infrastructure to construct the road.
The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency administers the federal environmental assessment process, which identifies the environmental effects of proposed projects and measures to address those effects, in support of sustainable development.
