TORONTO, Jan. 12 /CNW/ - An innovative new kitchen sink that combines glass and stainless steel is one of several new products that Blanco will unveil at the Interior Design Show (IDS) in Toronto this month. Blanco, a worldwide leader in kitchen workstation design and manufacturing, marks its 85th anniversary in 2010.
The new Blanco Crystalline is a compact kitchen sink that combines premium stainless steel with a choice of matte black or white glass elements for a luxury look. While the sink bowls are stainless steel, the faucet ledge and a large flat sink cover, which also serves as a cutting board, are made of glass. The cover, when placed over the sink, completely hides the sink allowing a busy cook to hide the sink and everything in it, when company drops by as well as to gain a little extra countertop working space.
"The Crystalline sink is idea for a condo or smaller kitchen," says Alexandra Marshall, director of marketing for Blanco Canada. "It measures only 24 inches in width which fits most cabinetry, and has a large main bowl with small prep bowl. But its unique feature is the fact that you can cover it up completely with the stunning glass cover and gain extra working or serving space on your countertop."
The sink has other space-saving features. The faucet deck is to the right of the bowls instead of behind the sink so that it is more likely to fit even in small countertops with a tile backsplash. And, it features a relatively shallow bowl depth of seven inches, allowing extra cabinet storage space under the sink.
Made in Germany, the new Crystalline sinks also feature Blanco's innovative new MicroEdge rim design, launched in 2009. The MicroEdge rim is an ultra-thin sink rim that creates a sleek and flawless flush-to-the-counter look, in effect, creating the illusion of an expensive flushmount installation in a sink that easily installs on top of the counter. Versatile MicroEdge sinks can be installed onto any countertop material, from laminates to stone.
Other new products featured at the show this month will be new European-style drainerboard sinks available in stainless steel or Silgranit, and a line of stylish new kitchen faucets. A particular highlight will be the new Blanco Ronis MicroEdge stainless steel sink, a round sink with integrated accessories, which is a 2010 winner of the prestigious international IF product design award.
