Katanga Mining announces review of business

BAAR, Switzerland, Sept. 6, 2015 /CNW/ - Katanga Mining Limited (TSX: KAT) ("Katanga" or the "Company") today announces that Management has commenced a review of its business, including operations and expenses, in light of the challenging environment for commodities. The review will include an analysis of various alternative scenarios including the total suspension of copper and cobalt production until the completion of the Whole Ore Leach ("WOL") project.  This option would result in up to 18 months of suspended copper and cobalt production. The WOL project is currently on schedule and budget to be completed by the end of the first half of 2017.

Glencore has indicated it will provide or procure the additional funding required, if any, for the WOL project in addition to any funding necessary for operations (and/or suspension thereof) and other capital expenditures during the WOL project building and commissioning phases.

This press release was prepared under the supervision of Tim Henderson, Technical Consultant and Director, Katanga and a "qualified person" as such term is defined in NI 43-101. Mr. Henderson has reviewed and approved the contents of this press release.
