Journalists for Human Rights Introduces its New Ambassadors

TORONTO, Jan. 31, 2017 /CNW/ - Journalists for Human Rights (www.jhr.ca) works both at home in Canada and abroad to train journalists to report on human rights issues ethically and effectively. This work ensures human rights issues stay in the headlines, fosters a culture of accountability and catalyses positive change. 

At a time when the need for strengthening journalist's ability to do their job is greater than ever, and in recognition of JHR's fifteenth year, JHR is delighted to announce the first ever cohort of Ambassadors for Journalists for Human Rights:

Masai Ujiri , President of the Toronto Raptors,

Troy Reeb, head of news and local broadcasting for Corus Entertainment

Karyn Pugliese, Executive Director of News and Current Affairs for Aboriginal Peoples' Television Network

Ben Peterson, Co-Founder and Executive Director of JHR (Journalists for Human Rights), from May 2002 to October 2011

Grant McDonald, professional journalist and journalism trainer currently working in South Sudan for Journalists for Human Rights

Lisa LaFlamme,  anchor of CTV News' nightly broadcast

Jennifer Hollett, works in digital, journalism, and politics. She is the head of news and government at Twitter Canada.

Michael Cooke, editor of the Toronto Star and Chair of the Board at JHR

Catherine Cano, Chief Executive Officer of CPAC, Canada's Cable Public Affairs Channel

Each of these extraordinary individuals has been selected for unique qualities of outstanding leadership, high personal and professional integrity, and moral authority.
