Top 100 list released just in time for Mother's Day
TORONTO, May 5 /CNW/ - After more than 30 years of chewing them up and spitting them out, Canada's top food critic, Joanne Kates, has compiled a list of her favourite 100 Toronto restaurants. The list, which contains reviews and rankings from one to 100, is now the city's definitive online resource for dining in Toronto.
Looking for a place to take mom this weekend? Try number 18. Searching for the best Italian trattoria in town? It comes in at number eight. And which restaurant placed first overall out of Toronto's 11,000 restaurants? Pastis at Yonge and Summerhill.
How did she compare a fine dining restaurant to a cafeteria-style deli, or elaborate Japanese cuisine to a gourmet burrito? Not easily. "Choosing the 100 best was easy. Ranking them was much harder. In the end, I voted with my heart," says Kates. "The ranking reflects the whole experience - not only the food. Great food can be beaten by almost-great food with pleasurable atmosphere at a good price," says Kates.
The list, plus every detail you'd ever want to know - nearest ATM, closest free parking, corkage fee, vegetarian friendliness, patio, dress code and more - is included in our one-stop resource.
