Innis & Gunn celebrates Canada Day 2010 with release of Second Edition
'Canadian Cask'

INNIS & GUNN, BREWERS OF CANADA'S FAVOURITE SCOTTISH BEER, AGAIN CELEBRATE THE SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SCOTLAND AND CANADA WITH A UNIQUE, LIMITED EDITON BEER CRAFTED ESPECIALLY FOR CANADA DAY

TORONTO, June 20 /CNW/ - To celebrate Canada Day, 2010, and to thank their loyal Canadian fans, Scottish brewer Innis & Gunn has announced the release of its 2010 Limited Edition Innis & Gunn 'Canadian Cask' beer - the brewery's second vintage of this wildly popular beer that was first introduced to Canadian drinkers in 2009.

Innis & Gunn Canadian Cask, which was developed exclusively for Canada, employs the use of very rare Canadian whisky barrels during the revolutionary and renowned Innis & Gunn oak-barrel aging process. This special beer is available now in very limited quantities - only 200 barrels were produced exclusively for Canadians - and customers across the country can enjoy the brew in time for Canada Day celebrations - while supplies last.

"For the 2010 Canadian Cask release, we further explored the use of rye malt crystals," said Innis & Gunn owner and brewer Dougal Sharp. Rye malt was oven-baked to form a caramel, imparting a truly unique balance of complexity, depth of flavour and mellowness. "Our beers are all about smooth and complex flavours for savouring and this year's limited edition release of Canadian Cask is no exception. The positive feedback from Canadian beer drinkers following the release of our first Innis & Gunn Canadian Cask in 2009 was overwhelming, which is why we took extra special care in the making of the 2010 release."

"There are hints of orange and Canadian rye whisky in this brew and the use of the rye crystals in the recipe has added a delicious honeyed raisin character, deep red colour and a toffee and malt finish. It has surpassed all of our expectations and we are proud to help celebrate Canada Day with this very special, limited edition beer," concluded Sharp.

About Innis & Gunn

Innis & Gunn Oak Aged beer was developed by Dougal Sharp in 2003 using a revolutionary technique of aging beers with oak. The American white oak barrels infuse Innis & Gunn's Original Oak Aged Beer with flavours and aromas including toffee and vanilla during a special maturation process that takes an uncommonly lengthy time to complete. This new category has managed to attract many new drinkers to beer both in the UK and across its six major export markets (Canada, USA, Ireland, Sweden, Norway and Finland). Earlier this year Innis & Gunn was named 'Business of the Year' at the annual Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards and also became the first Scottish beer company in twenty-two years to be handed the prestigious Queen's Award for Enterprise.
