OTTAWA, Sept. 6, 2014 /CNW/ - Hydro Ottawa crews have restored
electrical service to more than 17,000 customers after yesterday's
severe storms. Around the clock efforts are continuing to restore power
to customers affected by numerous outages across the city.
High winds, fallen trees and lightning caused significant damage to the
electrical system, including downed power lines.
Hydro Ottawa initiated emergency response procedures immediately
following the first storm Friday evening, and crews were deployed
across the City on a priority basis, to ensure safety and restore the
largest outages first. Crews continue to work around the clock to
restore power to all customers as quickly as possible
Hydro Ottawa would like to thank our customers for their patience and
understanding as restoration efforts continue.
Updates will be provided as more information becomes available through
the Outage Map at www.hydroottawa.com, and on Hydro Ottawa's 24 hour outage line at 613-738-0188. Outages and
electrical emergencies can also be reported at this number.
If customers notice fallen power lines, they should stay a good distance
away - at least 10 meters (33 feet). Customers should not attempt to
clear away any trees or branches that may be touching a power line. It
is recommended that customers call 911 immediately.
