Hicks Morley kicks off 2013 by welcoming Three New Partners

TORONTO, Jan. 7, 2013 /CNW/ - Managing Partner Stephen Shamie announced last week that Hicks Morley has welcomed three new partners, Henry Dinsdale, Jeffrey Goodman and Michael Smyth, to the firm.

Henry, Jeffrey and Michael are based in the firm's Toronto office. Prior to joining Hicks Morley, Henry, Jeffrey and Michael were all partners at Heenan Blaikie LLP.

Henry Dinsdale

Recognized as one of Canada's leading lawyers in the field of labour and employment law by The Best Lawyers in Canada and by Martindale Hubbell, Henry Dinsdale was called to the Ontario bar in 1989, and works closely with both federally and provincially regulated employers to provide advice ranging from collective bargaining and strategic labour relations planning to contract interpretation and employee terminations. With both a Masters and Doctoral degree from Stanford University Law School, Henry has taught labour law at the University of Toronto Law School and Osgoode Hall Law School and is on the faculty at Queen's University's Industrial Relations Centre.

Jeffrey Goodman

Jeffrey Goodman was called to the Ontario bar in 1990, and has been recognized in the International Who's Who of Management Labour and Employment Lawyers. Jeffrey's practice focuses on representing corporations and insurers in employment litigation, class actions, human rights matters, labour and occupational health and safety law. Jeffrey, a frequent public speaker on employment, human rights and labour-related matters, is a member of the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal Practice Advisory Committee and teaches employment law at Queen's University Faculty of Law.

Michael Smyth

Michael Smyth was called to the Ontario bar in 1992, and has been recognized as a leading practitioner in the area of labour and employment law in The Best Lawyers in Canada. Michael advises federally and provincially regulated employers on grievances and arbitrations, discipline and terminations, human rights matters, certification applications, corporate restructuring, collective bargaining and employment contracts.

Shamie noted that "this is an exciting new development for the firm. The addition of our three new partners reinforces Hicks Morley's long-standing commitment to provide firm clients with unparalleled depth and experience in the areas of law in which we practice. Henry, Jeffrey and Michael are leading practitioners in the field of labour and employment law and will be a great addition to our already terrific team of professionals".

Hicks Morley devotes its practice exclusively to representing employers on human resources law and advocacy issues.  It is the leading firm in Canada practising in this area with over 110 lawyers in five cites in Ontario.
